About Stefan E. Hauser

Born in 1963 in Basel, Switzerland, his current place of residence and work. Professor of art history at Basel University. He lived and worked in New York from 1990 to 1993 and then in Paris from 1997 to 1998.

At present he works as a library researcher at the Schaulager Center for Contemporary Art ( www. schaulager.ch)
From 2004 on he publishes his works in Zeitung fur Kunstgeschichte, an international magazine for art history (http://kunsthist.unibas.ch/forschung/zeitschrift-fuer-kunstgeschichte/).
Editor of the free online magazine Rheinsprung 11 (www.rheinsprung11.ch)
He regularly organizes screening cycles at Eikones Research Institute (www.eikones.ch).

S.H.Hauser has a passion for history and aesthetics of both analogue and digitalal lm though most of his work in research and writing is focused on silent celluloid movies and the techniques of reproduction and re-editing.

Since the eighties he has published numerous books, articles, pamphlets as well as dictionary de nitions in German, English, French and Italian, on subjects from various art related elds.
